Services

Our services

Phoniatrics Diagnosis and treatment of voice, speech and swallowing disorders

Organic voice disorders: This form of voice disorder arises from structural changes to the vocal folds. Examples: Reinke's edema, vocal fold polyp, vocal fold cyst, bamboo nodes, vocal fold nodules, papillomas, malformations of the vocal folds.

Functional and neurogenic voice disorders: Here the cause usually lies in faulty regulation of muscle activity or nerve function. Examples: hypofunctional and hyperfunctional dysphonia, spasmodic dysphonia, laryngeal tremor, paradoxical vocal fold movement, (partial) paralysis of the vocal folds.

Psychogenic voice disorders: Psychological strain or conflicts can also impair voice function. Examples: psychogenic dysphonia, psychogenic aphonia.

Paediatric audiology Assessment of childhood hearing disorders, auditory perception and speech development

Children's hearing and speech development: For the general development of a child – and in particular for speech development – normal hearing or well-managed hearing loss is decisive. For this reason, the first hearing test is carried out as early as the third day of life. If abnormalities are found, further examinations are performed, which also take place in our practice. Child-appropriate diagnostics require a great deal of experience, empathy and specialist expertise.

Objective hearing tests: To assess hearing without active cooperation from the child, we carry out the following procedures: detection of otoacoustic emissions (TEOAEs, DPOAEs), auditory brainstem audiometry (AABR, BERA, threshold BERA), tympanometry and stapedius reflexes.

Subjective hearing tests: These tests require the active or observable response of the child: behavioural observation in the free field, distraction audiometry, play audiometry for children, pure-tone threshold audiogram and speech audiogram (with and without background noise), regiometry and dichotic testing.

Speech and developmental diagnostics: In addition to hearing, we also assess speech development, general development and possible auditory processing and perception disorders.

Surgery Phonosurgery, larynx-widening procedures and surgery for childhood hearing disorders

Phonosurgical operations: Reduction of Reinke's edema, removal of vocal fold polyps, vocal fold cysts, bamboo nodes, vocal fold nodules and papillomas, surgery for malformations of the vocal folds, surgery for paralysis or partial paralysis of the vocal folds (vocal fold augmentation, thyroplasty)

Larynx-widening surgery for shortness of breath: Glottoplasty by partial removal of the vocal fold and partial removal of the arytenoid cartilage, injection of botulinum toxin

Surgery for childhood hearing disorders: Incision into the eardrum (myringotomy), insertion of tympanostomy tubes (grommets and long-term tubes), removal of the adenoids (adenoidectomy), partial removal of the palatine tonsils (tonsillotomy)

ENT medicine Modern examination and treatment methods / allergy diagnostics and therapy

Our practice: For many years, our practice has offered a comprehensive range of ear, nose and throat diagnostics and therapy for patients from Niendorf, Lokstedt, Groß Borstel and the wider area.

Vertigo diagnostics and therapy: Using modern examination methods, we determine the causes of vertigo complaints and develop individual treatment concepts tailored to the respective symptoms and needs.

Hearing disorders in adults: We diagnose and treat hearing loss with a high level of professional expertise and state-of-the-art measurement technology – for the best possible hearing care and quality of life.

Modern diagnostics: Our practice is equipped with state-of-the-art technology that enables endoscopic and video-assisted examinations of the nose and paranasal sinuses. In addition, we offer A-scan and B-scan ultrasonography in order to detect conditions precisely and treat them in a targeted manner.
